  • 4 tbsp. milk (60g)
  • ½ tbsp.  white vinegar
  • ½ tsp.  vanilla
  • 1 ½ tbsp.  vegetable oil (20g)
  • 4   tbsp all purpose flour (32g)
  • Few drops of gel red food color
  • ½ tbsp cocoa powder (4g)
  • 2 tbsp.  sugar (27g)
  • ¼ tsp.  baking powder
  • tsp.  salt

Cream cheese frosting:

  • 1 tbsp.  cream cheese, room temperature (15g)
  • 1 tbsp.  heavy cream
  • 1-2  tbsp. powdered sugar, to taste

Instructions
 

  • Ensure you have a microwave-safe mug.
  • Add milk, vinegar, oil, and vanilla into the mug.
  • Use a whisk or fork to mix the ingredients together.
  • Introduce the red food color and ensure it’s evenly diluted.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
  • Whisk the mixture until it forms a smooth batter. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Place the mug in the microwave on the default setting.
  • Cook for 60 to 90 seconds, depending on how the microwave's power may vary.
  • Allow the cake to cool for 15 minutes; consider placing it in the fridge to speed up the cooling process.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the cream cheese frosting by mixing cream and cheese until it turns creamy.
  • Spread the frosting generously over the cooled cake.
  • Serve and enjoy your treat.

To ensure the best results when microwaving your mug cake, keep in mind that cooking time can differ depending on your microwave's power and the type of mug you use. I suggest beginning to check for doneness at around 60 seconds. If you notice any wet batter, pop the mug back in the microwave for an additional 10-20 seconds. If the batter looks cooked, gently press the cake; it should spring back if it's fully done.
